What Is Assessment? DEFINITIONS Assessment involves the use of empirical data on student learning to refine programs and improve student learning. (Assessing Academic Programs in Higher Education by Allen 2004) Assessment is the process of gathering and discussing information from multiple and diverse sources in order to develop a deep understanding of what students know, understand, and can do with their knowledge as a result of their educational experiences; the process culminates when assessment results are used to improve subsequent learning. (Learner-Centered Assessment on College Campuses: shifting the focus from teaching to learning by Huba and Freed 2000) Assessment is the systematic basis for making inferences about the learning and development of students. DeleteViviana: For me teaching is the process of attending to people's needs. Teaching is a never ending process that does not depend on a classroom, we teache with our lives, with our words, with our silence, with our behaviour, with or sight. Teaching is to facilitate knowledge to other, to be a guide a giver.
ReplyDeleteTeaching is a vocation that is inside our hearts and when we realize it is remarkable for our lifes doesn't stop, it takes place all the time, in all spots inside and even outside the classroom. It is not only to transmit knowledge to someone else and provide them feedback. It takes time, little by little throughout our lifes with many people, cultures and experiences.

DeleteTeaching is about caring, nurturing and developing minds and talents. It's about devoting time, to every student, to the hours of grading, designing or redesigning courses and preparing materials to still further enhance instruction. But the most important thing is that teaching has to be your passion if you want to be a good teacher. (Andrea)

Teaching is something which is not just for 1 year it is for all your life in which the objective is to accomplish the humans' goal about sharing and acquiring our knowledge. We are preparing to teach something, but it is not right to suppose all students don't have information which we learn from them. Teaching is love.

DeleteTeaching is my life, I don't see myself working in a different job, If I choose a different one is because It can be a complement of the job that i have now, but I love teaching, because it is a process where you have the perfect context to show the best of you, to transmit not just concepts, also you can transmit the beautiful perspective of life.

ReplyDeleteTeaching, is being engaged with the education and guidance of our specific topic, is a labor which takes time and will be full of challenging situations that we must deal with different tools depending on the different cases we are facing. Teaching is not only getting inside a classroom from a complete day giving material to the students, it is something that needs preparation and most importantly passion on every assignment created for every class.
My name is Maria Fernanda in my opinion teaching is one of the most important professions that exist, it is because we as teachers need to involve different professions in one. Teachers must be a father or a mother sometimes( if we are teachers of little children), we learn how they eat, what they like or don't, their expressions and sometimes we know more of them than their own parents. we must be doctors or nurses too if they feel bad in class, psychologists too because we need to understand what is happening with our students, and i think that the most important part is that we must be friends sometimes, we are the only people they can talk about something. to conclude teaching means to build people more than build minds.
